Heat & Melting

Your candle arrived soft or melted.

Shipping carriers move packages through warehouses, trucks, and sorting facilities that are not climate-controlled. On a hot day, the interior of a delivery vehicle can exceed 140°F — enough to soften or fully melt natural wax.

Embercomb candles are made with organic beeswax and coconut wax — real, natural materials with lower melting points than synthetic paraffin. This heat sensitivity is a sign of purity: no hardening additives, no synthetic fillers, no petroleum. Real wax melts in heat and firms right back up when it cools. Your candle's scent, quality, and burn performance are completely unaffected.

01
Don't light it yet
Set the candle upright on a flat, shaded surface at room temperature.
02
Let it re-solidify naturally
Within a few hours the wax will firm back up on its own. Don't use the freezer — rapid cooling can crack the wax.
03
Trim the wick and burn as normal
Once solid, trim the wood wick to ¼ inch. The candle will burn exactly as intended.
The surface may look slightly uneven or matte after re-solidifying — this is purely cosmetic and your first burn will create a fresh, even melt pool.
Vessel Damage

Your candle arrived with a broken or cracked vessel.

Amazon sometimes stores products in non-climate-controlled warehouses and ships candles in bubble mailers or minimal packaging. During transit, jars can crack, chip, or break — especially in rough handling or extreme temperature swings.

Our candles are poured into concrete vessels — beautiful and sturdy, but not indestructible under shipping stress. If your vessel arrived damaged, please don't use the candle. Burning in a cracked or compromised container is a fire hazard.

01
Take a photo
Photograph the damage clearly — the vessel, the candle, and the packaging it arrived in.
02
Email us
Send the photo to info@embercomb.co with your order number. We'll take it from there.
03
We'll send a replacement
No need to return anything. We'll ship you a new candle at no cost.
Common questions

FAQ

Is my melted candle still safe to burn once it re-solidifies?
Yes, completely. Heat does not damage the wax, fragrance, or wick. Once the candle re-solidifies at room temperature it is identical in quality and performance to one that never softened. The surface may look slightly different — that's purely cosmetic.
My vessel is cracked — can I still burn it?
No — please don't burn a candle in a cracked or damaged vessel. It's a fire hazard. Email us a photo at info@embercomb.co and we'll send you a replacement. You don't need to return anything.
